Terms

What you can expect from Art Ping, and what we expect from you. Plain language, because these terms are meant to be read rather than clicked past.

What Art Ping is

Art Ping collects open calls for visual artists — residencies, grants, prizes and exhibitions — from organizers' own websites and other public listings, and turns them into structured, filterable records. It is a way of finding opportunities. It is not the organizer of any of them.

We do not run the calls, take applications, handle entry fees, sit on any jury, or have influence on any decision. Your application is between you and the organizer.

The listings are machine-extracted, and some will be wrong

Deadlines, fees, eligibility and everything else in a listing are extracted automatically — by crawlers and language models — from pages we did not write. Some of it will be wrong, stale, or missing. Always open the organizer's own page and confirm before you apply or pay anything.

Every record links to its source for exactly this reason. If you spot something wrong, tell us at hello@artping.io — a corrected record helps everyone else on the list, and it is the single most useful thing you can send us during the pilot.

Access

  • Art Ping is invite-only while it is small, and free. There is nothing to pay and no plan to upgrade to.
  • Your access is personal to the email address we approved. Sign in with that Google account; a different one will not work.
  • Do not share your account. One person per address — the pilot is small enough that we would notice, and it makes everything we learn from it wrong.
  • We can end anyone's access, and we will say so by email when we do. Your data stays until you ask us to delete it.

It is a pilot, so it will break

There is no uptime guarantee and no support commitment. The app can be down, listings can change or disappear, features can be added and removed, and email can be late. We will not lose your saved calls carelessly, but we are not promising a service level we cannot staff.

What not to do with it

  • Do not scrape or bulk-export the listings, and do not build another product on top of them. Ask us instead — the answer is often yes.
  • Do not try to get at data that is not yours, or at anything behind the sign-in that you were not given.
  • Do not put other people's personal details into the profile or the request form. Write about your own practice.
  • Do not use automated tools to hammer the site. It runs on a small budget and a bot costs us real money.

Whose content is whose

The opportunities belong to the organizers who published them, and we summarize and link rather than reproduce. The structuring, the filters and the app around them are ours. Anything you write — your profile, your practice note — stays yours; we use it only to run the product, as the privacy page describes.

If you are an organizer and want a listing corrected or removed, write to us and we will do it.

What we are responsible for

Art Ping is provided as it is, without warranties. Because listings are machine-extracted from other people's pages, we cannot be responsible for a missed deadline, a fee paid to a call that turned out to be different, or a decision made on a listing that was out of date — which is why the check on the organizer's page is not a formality.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death, personal injury, or fraud, and none of it takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.

Ending it

You can stop using Art Ping at any time. Ask us at hello@artping.io and we will delete everything we hold about you within 7 days — the detail is on the privacy page. We can end access from our side too, for the reasons above or because the pilot ends; if the pilot ends, everyone gets email about it first.

Changes to these terms

These will change as the product does. The date at the top says when they last did. If a change actually affects you, we will email you rather than rely on you re-reading this page.

Who to write to

hello@artping.io, for any of it. A person reads it.
